Okay… it is not really the flu but “The Spanish Cold” is not very catchy – although, I guess, it is, but I digress…
In my last post I was talking about hosting foreign students and how much I enjoyed it. Well…at the moment…. maybe not so much.
Last weekend, D – the Mexican boy – came home feeling under the weather, complaining of a sore throat, headache, aches everywhere in fact. Uh oh, I thought… and of course, by Wednesday I had it. The cold to end all colds. Now I really want to say that I am normally a fairly healthy girl. It takes quite a lot to get me down but, this time, down I went. I spend most of the afternoon sleeping, got up long enough to point my remaining students in the direction of the fridge, and managed to sleep another 12 hours! The following days were not much better and I am finally back on my feet today, Sunday.
This little episode has thrown a spanner in the works: my planning and organizing have gone completely down the drains. The house looks like a bomb has hit it, I have managed to keep up with the laundry (with 5 people there is really no choice but to do it) but I haven’t done next week’s menu plans either which means that I need to do them tomorrow in order to do the shopping. Considering that I need to take the cat to the vet, go to the dentist, and go to work in the afternoon, I think it is going to be a fairly busy day.
