I’ve finally dug up the last of the potatoes. That’s another 20lbs that I will not have to buy.
It seems like a lot but, with the new students arriving, I’ll have 4 boys between 16 and 20 years old to feed. I do try to feed them as frugally as I can but I still like to give them good, healthy food that they will enjoy. I think that potatoes from the garden can be safely put into that category.
The one thing I really need to is organise some menu plans. I did try last year but I never really got into a routine and nothing much came out of it. This time I have the extra difficulty of having two who don’t eat pork! Considering the amount of bacon we eat in England and the way we have of introducing in in so many dishes, and considering the fact that pork is one of the cheapest meats, it is not going to be an easy feat.
Now is the time to put my thinking hat on and give myself a serious kick in the behind.
